KAREN FARINA

Karen also studied under the internationally renowned teacher-trainer Rael Isakowitz and earned her second pilates certification. Still today Karen has been enjoying helping her clients experience the positive results pilates elicits.
Karen was born and raised outside of Chicago in an athletic family where she was a competitive swimmer and triathlete. This love for athletics led her on a path to inspire others to be active…not for competition, but for health and well-being.
Karen earned a bachelors degree in Exercise Science from Northern Illinois University in 1987. Her pilates certifications are with the Physical Mind institute and Body Arts and Science International (BASI).
Karen Farina has been a wellness professional for over 20 years with an emphasis on mind-body disciplines. Her early career includes roles at an innovative hospital wellness center outside Seattle and the exclusive Golden Door resort. Since 1997, Karen has been teaching the pilates method and studied under some of the most renowned pilates teacher-trainers.
Karen’s first pilates teacher, Cathleen Murakami, was also her first certifying teacher-trainer. Karen studied, apprenticed and then taught at Synergy Systems, Cathleen’s highly reputable studio in Encinitas.

William Laforge, Ph.D
As the driving force of Center for Transitions, Dr. William LaForge strives to offer his clients many therapy options when it comes to anxiety and mood disorders. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Oregon in 1971 and an MS in Counseling from California State University at Fullerton in 1974. Dr. LaForge went on to gain his Ph.D. in Professional Psychology from United States International in 1980. He is currently licensed as a Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, School Psychologist, Community College Instructor & Counselor and a Certified Hypnotherapist.
Dr. LaForge and the Center for Transitions offer an array of specialty services to help you live a more vibrant, healthy and happy life. Whether you have a small roadblock to get over or feel like you’re facing a mountain, we have the knowledge, skills and compassion to help you achieve

Stepping into the Mystery
An advanced intensive weekend with Certified Anusara® instructor, Ashley Fiala, and Anusara-inspired™ teachers, Doreen Wolf and Elissa Marshall. Due to popular demand, these three teachers have joined together for a second time to offer a transformational weekend of asana, pranayama, and meditation. The weekend is an invitation to step into the mystery of what lies beyond your current boundaries. The workshop is aligning with the time of year that we move into darkness. The days get shorter and the nights get longer. We encourage you to step into those sticky dark places in your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual selves. Delving deep into the darkness, we will shed light on the fullness of our potential. We’ll also have a special guest TBA!
