Did you know…..?

December 23rd, 2010

Your body has the innate desire to live till the moment of death !

Every single cell in your body wants to live ,is conscious, is intelligent and able to receive and respond to environmental signals. Your body actually talks to you all the time.

The language being used : sensations!

It is very simple …. If you feel good, you are probably good, keep on doing what you are doing.

If you experience pain or just don’t feel great…your body is telling you that something needs to change. This can be anything from changing your diet, excercising more ,training less, getting another job or take a look at your posture to find the root cause of the pain in your body.

Your body is regenerating  itself every nanosecond to heal to adapt and grow and you can  optimize and accelerate this process.  Say good bye to pain killer,to compromising your training and sometimes even avoid surgery.

Just stop for a moment and imagine yourself feeling unbeatable, full of energy in a vibrant body . Your are strong your motions are fluid and what ever it is your are doing “you make it look easy” because your body/mind are optimal aligned so can go to your full potential ,nothing is holding you back ………

Team Jordan  : Karen Lundgren , Paul and Jordan Romero  are amazing and inspiring people and I am very lucky to work with and learn from them .

Good news is : Everything you need is already within !! Yes everything !! And I will show you how to use “everything”.

Lower back pain after long bike ride or run just might be your Psoas screaming  for help.

My WHAT?

Her is  the reality….Last year I supported an athlete during a 12 hour Mtb race . After about 6 hours into the race he started to

experience severe lower back pain that took “his breath away” and then of course deprived him of well needed energy .

Analysis : lower back locked , difficulty breathing, less energy !
Problem: Bad posture, unhappy Psoas.

So what is a Psoas?
The Psoas is one of your major hip flexors AND when this one gets tight the result is a host of problems that are quite common in the athletes, non athletes and exceedingly common in the endurance sport world.

The Psoas muscle lies at the center of your body, provides much of your core strength and literally pulls it all together, inside to outside , upper to lower body ,breathing to running or biking…
This muscle is attached to the inside of the lower portion of your spine ( T12 to L5 )and then connects to the inside of your femur – big thigh bone(lesser trochanter).
When ever you run or bike the Psoas will contract and if you don’t take action to release this muscle after your training it remains tight. Now the Psoas will pull on the inside of your spine – your low back feels locked and tight or even goes into spasm, NOT FUN! Or it will pull the head of your femur into the hip socked – hip pain and one of your legs seems to be shorter then the other to name only a
couple of issues.

Bottom line a tight Psoas is something you can NOT afford if you want to reach your full performance and have fun training and racing!

Okay that’s the Psoas, but what about the breathing and lack of energy?
You can blame low back pain for all of these issues; however another cause is the fact that the Psoas provides the root support for the Diaghragm the main muscle in charge of in and exhalation. As you know lack of oxygen equals lack of energy!

Avoidance: How can you release the Psoas?
It seems like everybody needs to.
There are some key exercises using very precise bio mechanics to release this important muscle . I will guide you in detail through these exercises to make sure you get the release you need.. Look for ……..at www.yogawolf.com  online body alignment – coming soon !!!
